These pictures come from the 1956 compilation album “From Sea to Sea”, published by John Wood & Son (Tobacco) Ltd. for the Captain Grant cigarette brand.
They are colorful pictures that bring the maritime world to life. These carefully illustrated images are the work of GJ Frans Naerebout, a technical maritime draftsman and painter, who was known for his accurate and detailed depictions of ships.
The pictures show a wide range of ship types including passenger liners (such as the Titanic), cargo ships, tankers, coastal vessels, naval vessels and even lifeboats and whalers. Each picture measures 8 x 5.5 cm and is printed in vibrant colours, making them little works of art in themselves. Below each picture is a description of the ship.
