The album was written by Bob van den Boom, illustrated by EM Ten Harmsen van der Beek, and published in August 1933 by NV Stoom-koffiebranderij and Theehandel Kanis & Gunnink in Kampen. The book measures 21.5 × 29 cm and contains 64 pages, including a title page and a glossary at the back. It includes 100 pictures to paste into the designated areas on the text pages. Three pictures are missing from this album.
The theme is the air route from Amsterdam to Batavia—then the Dutch East Indies—and the album combines educational text, illustrations, and sticker cards to offer young readers a visual and narrative travel experience. The publisher thus combined advertising (coffee and tea) with a popular collectible, making the album a true collector's item.
The publication is bound in half linen or cardboard and features a cover illustration visualizing the route. The book is narratively structured, highlighting the route and stops along the way, while full-screen illustrations emphasize the air travel and the exotic destination.
