Between 1903 and 1940, you could collect pictures by purchasing Verkade products and paste them into special albums. These Verkade albums came to an end during World War II.
In 1975, Verkade, in collaboration with the Association for the Preservation of Natural Monuments in the Netherlands, decided to reissue the seasonal albums Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
The album 'Friesland' was first released in 1918. This album is a reissue from 1979.
The album was originally written by Dr. Jac. P. Thijsse, and the illustrations were painted by L.W.R. Wenckebach, Edzard Koning, and J. Voerman Jr.
