The Golden Gaper Collection is a special collection of miniature figurines that represent the traditional Dutch 'gapers'. This collection was published by De Remark Groep in collaboration with the Holland Museum Collection.
The complete series consists of 49 unique gapers, divided into four series. The first series was released in 2001 and contained 13 miniatures. In the following years, 2002, 2003 and 2004, three series of 12 gapers were added each time.
Each figurine is made of synthetic resin (polyresin) and hand-painted. The dimensions are approximately 4.0 x 5.5 x 7.0 cm.
The gapers are miniature replicas of the original facade statues that historically decorated pharmacies and drugstores. These statues, often with an exotic appearance and an open mouth, served as a sign and symbol for medicine. The collection includes various types of gapers from different cities, each with unique characteristics and historical backgrounds.
