The History of Royal Albert: A Royal Legacy

Royal Albert's roots go back to 1896, when Thomas Wild began producing high-quality porcelain in Longton, Staffordshire – the heart of the English porcelain industry. His eye for detail and love of floral patterns quickly earned him an excellent reputation.

In 1904, the company was given the prestigious name Royal Albert , in honour of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. From that moment on, the brand became a symbol of English refinement and timeless elegance. The focus was mainly on romantic, floral designs, inspired by English gardens and royal aesthetics.

During the 20th century, Royal Albert became internationally beloved and became one of the most collected porcelain brands in the world. Today, it remains an icon of British tradition and vintage charm.

In 1972 the company was acquired by Royal Doulton and in 2005 this company was acquired by Waterford Wedgwood after which the production of Royal Albert was moved completely abroad. In 2015 the company was absorbed by the Finnish Fiskars Group.
